We believe families are the most effective weapon against addiction - but none of them are equipped with the tools and knowledge necessary to be successful. This is why I developed the CRAFT/Empowerment Support Model.
Based on the evidence-based CRAFT (Community Reinforcement and Family Training) method, my approach also incorporates the lessons I’ve learned through both my personal and professional experiences. I’ve seen firsthand how addiction impacts not just the person in active use but also their loved ones. The need for long-term support, empowerment, and a shift in how families approach addiction became clear.
The CRAFT/Empowerment Support Model is a holistic approach that empowers families to take control of their own healing while learning how to effectively intervene in a way that encourages lasting change. Unlike traditional interventions that often focus on an abrupt confrontation, this model teaches families through a tactical approach how to set boundaries, increase motivation for change, and build stronger, more supportive relationships, all while taking care of themselves in the process.
This method is not just about getting the addicted individual into treatment—it’s about empowering the entire family to heal, grow, and restore balance in their lives. It’s about creating sustainable change, improving family dynamics, and offering both hope and tangible tools for long-term success.
By combining the best of CRAFT with my own experience, the CRAFT/Empowerment Support Model helps families shift from a place of crisis to one of action and empowerment.
My name is Danny and I am Living Proof that not only can you overcome a drug addiction, but you can become the greatest version of yourself through a full process of recovery.
In 2007 I was found minutes from death after being ravaged by a drug addiction that progressed over 8 years. I lost everything and everyone. My life was a heaping pile of wreckage and shattered pieces that many believed could never be restored. I chose to fight for my life and one day at a time, I rebuilt all that was lost.
Today I am 17 years into sobriety and my greatest honor is to have the title of husband and father. Outside of those two critical roles my favorite place to be is on the front lines with families who are affected by addiction.
My unique perspective and experience allows me to understand and help families gain traction and make progress. Watching my story will help you understand why.
The icon highlights the L and P as well as symbolizes the path that addicts face; taking a detour off the path, but then coming full circle and getting back on the path in the right direction. It’s a hand-drawn icon with imperfect lines, highlighting the imperfect lives we all live.
